I Need To Talk With You

Ron knocked on Valerie's office door.

Val looked up from her computer. "Come on in, the doors open."

Ron walked in and sat at her desk. "I got myself a little problem."

Val sat up straight. She motioned for Ron to sit in a chair. "Sit down, what's the problem?"

Ron sat in a chair. "My father is my problem." She scowled.

"Sabretooh? Why is he the problem?"

"We had a big fight and I left him," she said.

"Yes" Val nodded "I understand that, but I don't see how that's a problem now. You're safe here."

"He won't stop callin' me! He won't leave me alone! He found me at Hilary's Institute! God, he tried takin' away from there me by force!"

Val folded her arms, and leaned back in her chair. "I see... And you're afraid that he'll follow you here as well?"

"Yeah, I am! This fight was a lot worse than the one before!"

"Well don't worry Ron, there are cameras posted around the school. If Victor finds the need to come here we'll at least have a few minutes warning." Val said, trying to sound reassuring.

"Thanks. Thanks a lot," she said. "I dunno what I'd do if Daddy follows me here. Have you ever met Daddy?"

(can't remember if I asked this before at the entrance)

Val scowled slightly "Yes, I've had the... pleasure... of meeting your father in the past..." she said, hesitating for a moment.

"If you don't mind my askin', how did you meet him. I won't be offended."

"I had the pleasure of meeting him, while I still a young girl attending Xavier's Institute. We were on a mission to find a new mutant and we ran into Magneto and Sabretooth along the way."

"Oh, what happened?" she asked.

"Well obviously, Magneto wanted the mutant to go with him. So it turned into a fight, your father attacked me and nearly killed me. I probably would be dead if it weren't for my healing abilities." Val said, solemnly

"Oh." Ron looked down. "I'm glad that you made it."

Val smiled "Don't worry, that's all in past now." she said, noticing Ron looking away

"Yeah, it is, but still. Just picturing my father as the animal everyone says he is makes me believe that he is going to stay that way until he dies."

"Well, I suppose in most cases you just have to except people the way they are."

"Yeah, I just wish he would change," she said. "He has harmed me in a few fights."

Val's smile faded again "It's awful that he would do that to his own daughter..."

Ron sighed. "It's instinct. Mostly, anyway. He has a horrible temper most of the time," she said. "One time he cut my throat open. It healed on its own. It was an accident."
